Gene Perry serves as the Senior Policy Manager at Rebuild Local News since July 2025. Previously, Gene held the role of Manager of Government Relations at Cherokee Nation Businesses, focusing on health issues for the largest tribally operated health care system in the U.S. At Oklahoma Policy Institute, Gene was the Director of Strategy and Communications and also served as Policy Director and Policy Analyst, managing teams and conducting extensive research on state policy issues. Gene's earlier experience includes roles as a Technical Writer at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Community Organizer for the Norman Sustainability Network, and Campaign Manager for a state representative campaign. Gene's educational background includes a Master's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and a Bachelor's degree in History, both from the University of Oklahoma.
