Shane Baker has an extensive work experience history, starting in 2003 with their role as Chief of Plans and Exercises in the 3d Infantry Division. From there, they worked as an Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer in the 4-64 Armor Regiment, where they were responsible for training, planning, and executing tactical operations of a heavy task force. In 2006, they joined the United States Military Academy as the Language Chief and Instructor of Portuguese, teaching courses and managing a budget for language instruction. Shane later became the Deputy Director of the Center for Culture, Languages, and Regional Studies, overseeing a team focused on culture, language, and regional studies. In 2012, they transitioned to the position of Portuguese Language Chief and Assistant Professor of Portuguese, leading a team in delivering Portuguese instruction to West Point Cadets. Following their time at the United States Military Academy, Shane worked in various roles in the US Army, including Professor of Military Science and Executive Officer in the Department of Foreign Languages. In these roles, they educated, trained, and inspired future Army officers while leading and synchronizing the efforts of academic departments. After leaving the US Army, they joined Starbucks as a District Manager, and later served as part of the Retail Operations team at Black Rifle Coffee Company. Currently, they are serving as a Market Director at Rebuilt. Throughout their career, Shane has consistently demonstrated leadership, training, and management skills.

Shane Baker attended Portola Junior/Senior High School from 1982 to 1986. During this period, they did not obtain a degree or pursue any specific field of study. After completing high school, from 1987 to 1991, Shane enrolled at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Shane earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, focusing on Portuguese and Spanish. Later, in 2002 to 2003, Shane attended the US Army Command and General Staff College, where they obtained a Master's degree in Military Art and Science.
