The technology was invented by Magnus Granhed, the founder and owner of RECCO AB, in the 1980s. Today the RECCO system is a global standard for avalanche rescue and is utilized by professional rescuers worldwide. The two-part technology consists of RECCO reflectors that are integrated into consumer products as apparel, helmets, protection gear, and boots. The RECCO® detectors are used by professional rescuers to search for and find people equipped with RECCO reflectors. As a global system RECCO AB works closely with rescuers from many different countries and distributes RECCO reflectors to outdoor brands worldwide.
