James is the former Chair of the Department of Psychology and current Centennial Liberal Arts Professor of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on the relationship between natural language use, health, and social behaviour. He has been recognized by the American Psychological Association as one of the top researchers on trauma, disclosure, and health, and has authored six books and received grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Army Research Institute, and other federal agencies for studies in language, emotion, and social dynamics. As Receptiviti's Chief Science Officer, James is deeply involved in Receptiviti's research and product development efforts, and works intimately with the large customers.
