Rui Palhais

Rui Palhais has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and industries. Rui is currently the Supply Chain Director at Recipharm, where they are driving a transformative approach to optimize processes and empower the workforce through digitalization and advanced technologies. Prior to this, Rui worked as a Transformation Manager at OGMA-Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal, SA, where they implemented strategic changes. Rui also served as a Project Leader at Kaizen Institute Consulting Group, Ltd., guiding leaders towards business excellence globally. Rui has a background in entrepreneurship, having founded Mappalab and Simsurge, both focused on healthcare support. Rui pursued a PhD in Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing under the MIT Portugal Program, conducting research on additive manufacturing technologies and medical error. Rui has also held roles as a Senior Consultant at Kaizen Institute Western Europe and as a Healthcare Parliament Deputy, responsible for strategic healthcare policies in Portugal.

Rui Palhais holds a Masters in Mechanics and Biomedics from the Instituto Superior Técnico. Rui pursued further studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2016 to 2017, where they obtained a PhD in Systems Engineering.
