Gilwoo Choi has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Gilwoo started their career in 2001 as an Instructor at Korea Naval Academy, where they worked until 2004. In 2008, they completed an internship at Cardiovascular Simulation, Inc. Following that, they joined Heartflow, Inc in 2009 as a Senior Biomedical Engineer and later became a Principal Scientist in 2016, holding this position until 2023. Simultaneously, in 2014, they also started working at Stanford University, Department of Surgery as a Consulting Assistant Professor, and later became an Adjunct Lecturer in 2017, with their roles ending in 2023. Currently, Gilwoo Choi holds the position of Principal Engineer II at ReCor Medical, starting in 2023.
Gilwoo Choi completed their education in Mechanical Engineering. Gilwoo earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from Seoul National University in 1999. Later, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S) degree from the same university, which they attained in 2001. Subsequently, Gilwoo Choi joined Stanford University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2009. During their time at Stanford, they also earned a Ph.D. minor in Management Science and Engineering.
