John America

John America has a diverse work experience in the technology and security industry. John started their career as a Linux System Administrator at Blackbird Technologies in 2011, where they focused on maintaining communication with management and optimizing efficiency. In 2014, they joined GuidePoint Security as a Senior Security Engineer, responsible for deploying and maintaining various tools to enable continuous monitoring and risk management. In 2015, John transitioned to Mystek Systems, Inc. as an IA Engineer, Cyber Risk Analyst, and Cyber Data Scientist. There, they worked in a small team to prototype innovative technologies for the enterprise and develop cyber architecture for the CISO. Currently, John works as the Chief Operating Officer at Recro Corporation.

John America has a Master's Degree in Applied Information Technology - Cyber Security from George Mason University, which they obtained from 2016 to 2018. John also has a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Information Technology - Information Security from the same university, earned between 2010 and 2011. Prior to that, they earned an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Northern Virginia Community College from 2007 to 2009. John also holds several certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2015, Security+ from CompTIA in 2014, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) from EC-Council in 2014, and Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) from Red Hat in 2012.
