Katie Nickels

Katie Nickels has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of cyber security. Katie is currently the Director of Intelligence Operations at Red Canary, where they have been working since March 2023. Prior to this role, they served as the Director of Intelligence from January 2020 to March 2023.

Before joining Red Canary, Katie worked at the SANS Institute as a Certified Instructor starting from May 2019.

Katie also gained valuable experience at MITRE as a Principal Cyber Security Engineer from April 2015 to January 2020. In this role, their primary focus was on security operations, network defense, and cyber threat intelligence, including work on MITRE ATT&CK.

Katie's career in cyber security began at ManTech, where they worked as a Cyber Threat Analyst from April 2012 to April 2015. Katie then moved on to Raytheon, where they held the same position from April 2011 to April 2012.

Prior to these roles, they worked as a Cyber Analyst at the United States Department of Defense from July 2009 to April 2011 and as a Researcher at IGI from June 2007 to June 2009.

Katie Nickels holds a Master's Degree in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Smith College.
