Matt Jackson has a strong background in engineering and design, with a focus on the automotive industry. Matt started their career as a summer intern at Northrop Grumman Corporation in 2003, before joining Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding as an Engineer Mechanical II in 2004. In 2009, they transitioned to Constellation Energy as a Mechanical Design Engineer, where they led a response team for NRC Component Based Design Inspection and coordinated the temporary modification program. In 2012, Matt joined Local Motors, Inc. as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, where they performed mechanical and process engineering tasks related to vehicle development. Matt also led a build team in the design and construction of an open-source kit car, built a large drone for Airbus, and invented the electric drift trike. Most recently, Matt served as the Director of Engineering at Redcat, where they built a team of engineers and designers to bring a wide variety of radio control vehicles to market.
Matt Jackson's education history begins in 2000, as they enrolled at Virginia Tech. Matt studied there from 2000 to 2004, completing their Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. After a brief break, they continued their education in 2006 at William & Mary – Raymond A. Mason School of Business. Matt pursued an MBA degree with a focus on Operations Management, Modeling, and Simulation, which they successfully obtained in 2009.
