Patrick Thornton, PhD, has extensive experience in the mental health field, with a private counseling practice established in 1998. In addition to counseling, Patrick serves as an editorial advisor for the American Psychotherapy Association, focusing on peer-reviewed manuscripts in psychology and integrative medicine. As a facilitator for the Women's Breast Cancer Support group at Redwood Regional Medical Group, Patrick provides essential mental health services for women undergoing treatment and survivorship. Additionally, Patrick has been a mental health practitioner at Heartland Hospice since 2005, offering support for end-of-life care, and has taught mindfulness-based stress reduction and cognitive therapy since 1993. An advanced degree in Thanatology and Religious Studies complements a background that includes being a clergy member from 1963 to 1975 and a dedicated Buddhist Insight Meditation practitioner and teacher since the early 1990s.
