William Marsman

William Marsman has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Starting in 2012, they worked as an Electrical Engineering Summer Student at Fossil Power Systems Inc., where they created a user interface for a power plant safety control system and determined material costs for electrical cabinets.

In 2013, William worked as a Research Engineering Student at The Mosaic Company, where they designed and implemented an experiment to collect temperature and flow data in production ponds. William then joined Irving Shipbuilding as a Cx Engineering Student, where they verified and sold electronic systems on mid-shore patrol vessels.

In 2014, they became a Cx Engineering Student at MMM Group and was responsible for commissioning various electronic systems.

William's software engineering career started in 2015 at MDA (Macdonald Dettwiler & Associates) as a Software Engineer I, contributing to the development and maintenance of an existing system. William later became a Software Engineer II, working on Airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar Image Processors.

In 2017, they worked at Current Studios as a Software Engineer, focusing on integrating VR/AR technologies and working on projects using OpenCV and experimental hardware.

William returned to MDA in 2018 as a Software Engineer on Contract for the TRITON project. William then took on the role of Software Architect/Staff Software Engineer, contributing to architectural decisions and overseeing the execution of the project. William also served as a development team lead and provided support to the DevOps team.

Currently, William is the Head of Software Engineering at ReelData AI, where they lead a software development team and meets the company's technical and non-technical needs. William utilizes Agile methodologies and is responsible for various aspects such as reviews, conflict resolution, and hiring decisions.

William Marsman has a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Computer Engineering Option) from Dalhousie University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they received a Certification of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Acadia University between 2010 and 2012. In addition to their formal education, William Marsman also attained the AWS Developer Associate Certificate from NobleProg in November 2019.
