Devota Nuwe

Devota Nuwe is an experienced professional currently serving as the Acting Co-Director and Head of Programs at the Refugee Law Project, Faculty of Law, Makerere University since April 2022. Additionally, Devota Nuwe has been a Councillor at the World Refugee Council since April 2017, contributing to innovative solutions for global refugee crises. Previous roles include Consultant at MindLeaps from February 2018 to October 2019 and Country Director at HIAS Uganda from August 2014 to January 2018, where responsibilities encompassed strategic leadership. Earlier experience includes serving as Head of Office and Senior Protection Officer at HIAS from April 2011 to July 2014. Devota Nuwe holds a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Kent and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Makerere University, along with continuing education at the University of Oxford on Forced Migration and Refugee Law.
