Edward "Ted" Lester

Vice President, Certification at REGENT Craft

Ted Lester has worked in various roles in the aviation and maritime industries for over 19 years. Theircurrent role is Vice President of Certification at REGENT, where they lead the seaglider certification efforts and engagements with national maritime regulators and classification societies, as well as overseeing the systems engineering and crew integration activities. Prior to this, Ted worked at Insight Flight as a Certified Flight Instructor in 2009, and at GE Aviation as the Chief Technologist of AiRXOS from 2019-2021. From 2012-2019, Ted worked at MITRE as Group Leader, Lead Systems Engineer, and Senior Systems Engineer. Before this, they worked at Avidyne from 2005-2012 as a Product Manager and Systems Engineer. In 2005, they were a Research Assistant at the MIT International Center for Air Transportation, and in 2002-2003 they were a Teaching Assistant at Middlebury College and an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Harvard University.

Edward "Ted" Lester has a diverse educational background, having earned a B.A. in Physics from Middlebury College in 2005, an S.M. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2007, and having attended the University of Oxford in 2004 for courses in Physics, Geography, and Political Science. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including an Advanced Open Water Diver from SSI Scuba Schools International, a Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument from the Federal Aviation Administration, a Commercial Pilot - Single Engine Land, Multi-Engine Land from the Federal Aviation Administration, and a Part 107 Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration.
