Mazino Onibere

Mazino Onibere has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Currently, they serve as the Head of Cyber Security, Risk and Compliance at Regis Aged Care, a position they have held since September 2020. Prior to this, Mazino worked at the University of Melbourne as a PhD Researcher, Academic Tutor, and Sessional Lecturer from January 2016 onwards.

Before joining Regis Aged Care, Mazino worked at NEC Australia for over seven years. During their tenure, they held various positions, including Information Security Manager, Deputy Information Security Manager, and Senior Information Security Analyst. In these roles, Mazino was responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of information security management systems based on ISO 27001:2013 standards. Mazino also developed controls and processes in line with company policies and regulatory standards, managed information security risks, and actively researched new tools and solutions to optimize security processes.

Prior to joining NEC Australia, Mazino worked at NLNG for nearly ten years. First as a Network Engineer - Server, where they managed and administered server and storage infrastructure, ensuring the availability and integrity of related services. Later, as a Senior Information Security Engineer, they managed and coordinated all information security and control activities in the Bonny Operational area. Mazino also worked at Index Brook Ltd for a brief period as a Deputy Business Development Manager/Project Engineer, where they supervised project execution and searched for new business opportunities.

Mazino began their career at Schlumberger Well Services as a Field Engineer, where they were responsible for acquiring and recording real-time data of well production services. Mazino also ensured the security and protection of equipment and materials used for job execution.

Overall, Mazino Onibere has exhibited expertise and leadership in the fields of cyber security, information security, research, and project management throughout their career.

Mazino Onibere completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Information Security Strategy on a part-time basis at the University of Melbourne from 2016 to 2024. Prior to this, Mazino earned a Master of Information Systems degree in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from the same university in 2014-2015. Their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering was obtained from Obafemi Awolowo University between 1995 and 2001. Additionally, Mazino Onibere holds several professional certifications in areas such as network security, project management, and ethical hacking, obtained from various institutions between 2006 and 2012.
