Troels Johansen has a diverse work experience starting in 2008 as a Research Assistant at the Technical University of Denmark. From 2011 to 2017, they worked as a Research Assistant and later as a Ph.D. student at Aarhus University Hospital. In 2012, they founded BalancAir and served as the company's Chief Scientific Officer until 2020, during which they developed a medical device for the treatment of migraine, epilepsy, and stroke. Troels also worked as a Ph.D. student at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital in 2014. Troels joined Aarhus University as an External Lecturer in 2018 and participated in the BioMedical Design Novo Nordisk Foundation Fellowship Programme as a Senior Teaching Fellow in Technical Development from 2020 to 2021. Troels then became the Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Rehaler from 2020 to 2021, before taking on the roles of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Rehaler starting in 2021.
Troels Johansen completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History of Ideas at Aarhus University from 1998 to 2002. Troels then pursued a Master's degree (M.Sc.Eng.) in Biomedical engineering, mathematical modelling and simulation, and clinical research at DTU - Technical University of Denmark from 2003 to 2011. Following that, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Aarhus University between 2012 and 2017.
