ReHive
ReHive is an investment platform connecting a new generation of 'impact-first' investors with climate focused start ups in India. ReHive accelerates climate adaptation innovations in the Indian context through catalytic angel investments. ReHive curates carefully chosen climate adaptation start ups, which are most likely to benefit our communities and our environment, with a robust suite of due diligence, hand holding and support. At ReHive, we believe India is projected to face $6 trillion in economic losses by 2050 and 1.5 million deaths per year due to extreme heat by 2100. There is an urgent need to scale climate resilience and adaptation solutions, often considered a ‘close poor cousin of mitigation’. Such startups - such as affordable rainwater harvesting filters for city residents to battle falling water tables and instant soil testing technology enabling farmers to make better farm-input decisions are receiving only 16% of India’s climate-tech VC capital. Many hurdles exist to such investments: ● Most such startups are asset heavy, require iterative pilots and hyperlocal deployment and serve communities that are least resourced - all adding up to them taking longer to reach commercial viability. ● Most institutional capital has a ‘Grow at Any Cost’ mandate, not conducive to many impact driven founders. ● The investing ecosystem today does not reward impact-generating businesses, in fact these businesses are expected to meet both - impact and financial return goals. ReHive takes the first step towards creating such a shift by curating impact-driven investors and high-potential startups, facilitating their interactions, and enabling seamless investments for impact.
