Joyce Hamilton

Joyce Hamilton has extensive work experience in the legal and governance field, particularly within local government organizations. Joyce is currently the Strategic Head of Legal & Governance and Monitoring Officer at Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, where they provide expert advice and leadership in Legal Services, Governance, Procurement & Contracts, and Democratic and Electoral Services. Joyce also fulfills statutory roles such as Monitoring Officer, Deputy Returning Officer, and Senior Responsible Officer.

Prior to that, Joyce worked at Guildford Borough Council as the Principal Solicitor (Legal, Governance, Corporate), where they advised the Management Team and employees on various legal matters including Corporate Governance, Litigation, Contracts, Procurement, Commercial Projects, Charitable trusts, and Data Privacy.

Before their time at Guildford Borough Council, Joyce held roles at Reigate & Banstead Borough Council as the Principal Solicitor (Data Privacy, Corporate, Litigation) and Senior Solicitor. In these roles, they provided legal and governance advice to the organization's employees and handled a wide range of legal areas such as corporate governance, litigation, planning, licensing, housing, contracts, procurement, and data privacy. Joyce also had management and supervisory responsibilities in these positions.

Joyce Hamilton's education history includes a Graduate Diploma in Law from London South Bank University. Joyce then pursued further studies, including a Legal Practice Course (PG Dip in Law) at City, University of London. In 2008, they attended The University of Law to complete a Professional Skills Course and Higher Rights of Audience in the field of Postgraduate Law.
