Paul M. has extensive work experience in the field of security and operations management in humanitarian organizations. Paul most recently served as the Regional Security and Access Director for Relief International since 2023. Before that, they were the Regional Security Advisor for Asia at Mercy Corps from 2022 to 2023.
From 2019 to 2022, Paul worked at Mercy Corps in various roles, including Director of Country Risk Safety and Security Management and Director of Safety and Security. Prior to that, they had a stint at the International Rescue Committee as an Emergency Field Coordinator and Senior Operations Coordinator from 2018 to 2019.
Paul's earlier experience includes working as Systems Director at Concern Worldwide from 2017 to 2018, and as both Procurement Coordinator and Logistics Coordinator at GOAL Global from 2016 to 2017. Paul began their career in the Irish Defence Forces, where they served as a Non-Commissioned Officer from 2003 to 2015.
Paul M. completed their Master of Science (MSc) Hons degree in Humanitarian Logistics and Emergency Management from Dublin City University in 2016. Paul also obtained a Certificate in Security Management from Oxford Brookes University in the same year. Prior to that, Paul M. completed a Higher Certificate Level 6 Equivelant in Leadership, Management and Defence Studies from the Institute of Technology, Carlow in 2015. In addition to their formal education, they have received various certifications, including Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) from Medical Training Solutions in 2023, SRMP- Regional Certification from the International NGO Safety & Security Association (INSSA) in 2023, and Safe Working in Water from Rescue 3 International in 2022.
