Galen Spindel

Galen Spindel has a wide range of work experience, beginning in 2011. From 2011 to 2012, they were a Math/Science Teacher at Major Sheldon Wheeler Middle School, a Hawai'i Corps Member 2012 at Teach for America, an Intern at RLF Communications, and a Selection Committee at UNC Eve Carson Scholarship. In 2011, they were also a Program Director at Hidden Valley Camp and a Development Intern at Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina. In 2015, they were a Teaching Assistant at Dev Bootcamp and a Web Developer at Suited Connector LLC. From 2016 to present, they have been a Director of Engineering: Tutoring at Remind, an Engineering Manager at Remind, a Software Engineer at Remind, and a Web Developer Intern at Sift Science. Throughout their career, they have worked closely with cross-functional teams, implemented new device verification systems, completed full-site redesigns, built out tools to auto generate component libraries, lectured on various topics, mentored students, rapidly prototyped new jobs search platforms, worked across the stack from Ruby to HTML/CSS, created modular software, designed grade-level curriculums, served as Math Department Chair, engaged with local financial partners, collaborated with the account team and clients, researched and developed pitches, created media reports, evaluated applicants, conducted performance evaluations, designed and facilitated staff-training programs, overhauled the training procedure for the horseback-riding program, drafted fundraising letters, and wrote and managed website content.

Galen Spindel obtained their High School Diploma from Park Tudor School in 2008. Galen then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2008-2012, where they earned a BA in Psychology and Public Relations. From 2004-2006, they attended Foxcroft. In 2015, they attended Dev Bootcamp for Computer Programming. Galen also holds certifications from PADI for Advanced Open Water Diver and from the Red Cross for First Aid/CPR.
