Tamara Bavendam

Dr. Bavendam is a recognized expert in women’s urologic health. She served as Senior Scientific Officer at the National Institute of Health for the past eight years, where she was instrumental in introducing bladder conditions to NIDDK. As a founder of the PLUS consortium, she has been institutionalized the collaboration across university researchers on bladder health for persons of all ages and stages. Previously, Dr. Bavendam served as Pfizer’s Global Medical Director, where she supported the funding of women’s pelvic health research. Dr. Bavendam was a practicing urologist for twenty years, earning her MD at the University of Iowa. In 2021, Dr. Bavendam was awarded the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology Lifetime Achievement Award.
