Ben Achrai

Chief Technology Officer at RepAir Carbon Capture

Ben Achrai has a wealth of experience in the scientific and technological fields. Ben began their professional career in 2006 as an Analytical Lab Assistant at Dor Chemicals. In 2007, they worked as a Laboratory Assistant in the Organic Chemistry Lab of Prof. Ilan Marek at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. In 2008, they were a MSc Student at the Casali Institute for Applied Chemistry, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where they developed natural liquid crystals as drug delivery systems for sustained-release topical administration of analgesic drugs (gabapentin). From 2011 to 2016, they were a Post-doc Researcher and PhDstudent at the Weizmann Institute of Science. During this time, they developed bio-inspired composite materials possessing superior mechanical properties, characterized and evaluated the hierarchical structure and the multi-scale mechanical behaviors of biological composite materials, and acted as a mechanical testing consultant working with various research groups. From 2016 to 2019, they were the Fuel Cell - R&D Team Leader and Fuel Cell Researcher at POCELLTECH. Most recently, they have been the Chief Technology Officer at RepAir Carbon Capture since 2021.

Ben Achrai completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Molecular Biochemistry at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology between 2004 and 2007. Ben then went on to obtain a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Nanotechnology from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem between 2008 and 2010. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Chemistry and Materials Science from the Weizmann Institute of Science between 2011 and 2015.
