rePLANET

rePLANET is a purpose-led company, aiming to drive large scale nature restoration through through private sector funding. We are developing a number of projects around the world using carbon and biodiversity credit funding. These credits are attractively priced, transparent, biodiversity-rich and inclusive of local communities. Our team distinguishes itself by being made up of scientific excellence, global networks and financial expertise. We are currently developing projects in Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Indonesia and are scoping pipeline projects across South America, Central America, SouthEast Asia and Southern Africa. Example project: Mangrove restoration. Mangroves are one of the most carbon rich ecosystems as they store and accumulate carbon in their soil sediments under water. Reforestation sequesters carbon from the air into the trees and substrate. Carbon captured is sold as carbon credits (with each credit corresponding to one ton of CO2 removed from the atmosphere), and we currently serve the voluntary carbon market. By purchasing voluntary carbon credits, companies are funding reforestation. Their purchase pays for planting and maintaining hectares upon hectares of mangroves. rePLANET’s projects are certified by Plan Vivo, which require a minimum of 60% of the issuing price being paid to local communities living in the vicinity of the mangroves. The funding thereby improves the biodiversity conditions in these restored areas and brings much-needed income from corporate carbon clients to lowest-income communities in these places.
