Nikola Kolundzic, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 2012, they worked as an Education Writer & Illustrator for New School a.k.a. Nova Škola. In 2015, they transitioned to being a Freelance Graphic Designer for 99 Designs. From 2016 to 2017, they served as a Research Project Coordinator at POLYHEDRA d.o.o. They then joined the Institute for the Application of Nuclear Energy - INEP as a Research Associate from 2007 to 2017. In 2017, they became a Postdoctoral Research Associate at King's College London, where they worked until 2021. During this time, they also worked as a Science Consultant & Biomedical Communicator at Graphite from 2020 to 2021. In 2016, they started working as a Scientific & Medical Illustrator at Upwork, a role they still hold. Lastly, in 2019, they founded Kold Design, offering custom-made visual stories across science, education, technology, and healthcare. They have extensive experience in scientific, medical, and technical illustration, utilizing various graphic design tools.
Nikola Kolundzic, Ph.D. received their Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Belgrade, where they studied from 2001 to 2006. Nikola then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Belgrade from 2007 to 2012. In addition, they have obtained several certifications in graphic design and illustration, including the Upwork Skill Certification in Illustration from Upwork in September 2020, and various Coursera Course Certificates from the California Institute of the Arts in 2018. Nikola Kolundzic has also completed a course on natural history illustration from edX in April 2020.
