Jamia Bachrach is a licensed attorney and seasoned professional in human subject protection with over 20 years of experience, currently serving as the Director of Research Ethics, Human Subjects Regulations, and Outreach at RTI International. Previously, Jamia held positions as a Senior Regulatory Affairs Specialist, IRB Manager, and IRB Chair, focusing on social and behavioral research involving vulnerable populations such as children, prisoners, and individuals with mental illness. In addition to overseeing IRB activities and providing expertise in consent and risk mitigation strategies, Jamia has contributed to federally-funded research related to offenders and at-risk individuals. Earlier legal roles included advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities as a lawyer at Disability Rights North Carolina and Carolina Legal Assistance.
