Lauren McCormack

Senior Vice President, Communication Science Practice Area at Research Triangle Institute

Lauren McCormack has a diverse and extensive work experience. Lauren currently holds the role of Senior Vice President in the Communication Science Practice Area at RTI International. In this position, they are responsible for strategic planning, portfolio development, staff development and management. Prior to this, they served as Vice President in the Translational Health Science Division and the Public Health Research Division at RTI International, where they oversaw large portfolios and managed teams engaged in public health and communication science research.

Before joining RTI International, Lauren had various roles at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Public Health, where they currently serve as an Adjunct Associate Professor. Additionally, they also worked as a Senior Research Analyst at Health Economics Research/Center for Health Economics Research. Throughout their career, Lauren's work has focused on evidence-based decision making, communication science, public health, and clinical informatics. Lauren has developed digital health campaigns, clinical decision support tools, and technology-based interventions for healthcare decision making.

Their research interests include patient-centered communication, health literacy, and informed decision-making. Overall, Lauren McCormack's work aims to improve the public's understanding and use of medical evidence in health and healthcare decision-making.

Lauren McCormack holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Lauren also obtained a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) from the same university. In addition, they have a Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, majoring in Legal Studies, Public Health, and Business. Lauren attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2015, pursuing a program focused on Disruptive Innovation - Innovator's DNA, Innovation & Strategy.
