Principal Examiner-financial Sector Regulations at The Reserve Bank of Malawi

Laurence Sheriff is a seasoned legal expert with extensive experience in financial sector regulations, currently serving as Principal Examiner at The Reserve Bank of Malawi since July 2010. Responsibilities include drafting legal opinions, developing regulations and directives, and conducting surveillance on regulated financial institutions. Additionally, Laurence has held the position of Examiner I-Policy and Regulations since July 2013, focusing on drafting banking laws, providing legal opinions, and enforcing banking regulations. Prior experience includes roles at the Reserve Bank of Malawi and the Ministry of Justice, where legal advocacy and document drafting were key responsibilities. Laurence holds a Master of Laws in International Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation from the University of Warwick and a Bachelor of Law (Hons) from the University of Malawi-Chancellor College.
