Head of Software Development at Rethink Robotics

Christian Emmerich is the Head of Software Development at Rethink Robotics. Christian has held this position since March 2020. Prior to that, they were a software developer at Roboception GmbH from July 2016 to March 2020. From October 2009 to June 2016, they were a researcher at the University of Bielefeld, where they tutored and taught in the fields of machine learning and neural networks, and conducted research in the fields of human-robot interaction, robot learning from demonstration, robot motion planning and optimization. Christian was also the principal researcher in the ECHORD++ project CoHRoS. Prior to that, they were a student researcher at Planet GmbH from January 2009 to December 2009. Christian also did an internship at Bombardier Transportation from July 2008 to September 2008 in their controlling department. There, their project dealt with the economical modularization of a new Bombardier tram series "Flexity New Generation". Their task was to create a 'configurator' prototype for this tram series which - based on the catalogue of standard subassemblies - dynamically analyzes and calculates the required resources and costs. It was based on VBA (Microsoft Excel). Christian was also a student worker at Universität Rostock, Institut für Informatik from April 2006 to July 2009.

Christian Emmerich received their Dr. Ing. in Intelligent Systems from Bielefeld University and their Diplom-Mathematiker in Mathematik from Universität Rostock.

Christian Emmerich reports to Daniel Bunse, CEO. Christian Emmerich works with René Herbst - Head of Application Engineering, Sebastian Maas - Head of Product & Quality Management, and Daniel Otto - Managing Director.
