Ahmed Assar

Ahmed Assar is an accomplished journalist with extensive experience in television news. Currently serving as the Asia News Editor - Video for Reuters since January 2022 and Asia Editor - Television since December 2017, Ahmed is based in Singapore. Ahmed joined Reuters in 1994 as a television producer in Cairo amid rising Islamic militant activity. Throughout the years, Ahmed has held various significant positions, including Deputy Television Editor - Asia Pacific and Senior Television Producer for the Gulf, Iran, Egypt, Libya, and Sudan. Notably, Ahmed established the first Reuters Television hub in the Gulf and has a strong educational background with a diploma in Communication from The American University in Cairo and a BA in Sports Studies from Helwan University. Additionally, Ahmed serves on the board of the Reuters Centenary Fund Limited since March 2019.
