H. M. (Skip) Kingston, PhD, is a Professor of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Professor Skip Kingston is an internationally recognized expert in contaminate identification and measurement. He invented and developed Direct Speciated Isotope Dilution Mass Spectrometry (d-SIDMS), adopted in 2008 as a national standard method of measurement by the U.S. EPA. Dr. Kingston currently serves as Chief Technical Officer for Applied Isotope Technologies, Inc.. This high accuracy mass spectrometric method is now being used in medical applications in the fields of Exposomics, Autism and wellness. Dr. Kingston is the recipient of many awards and distinctions, including the 2009 Kaufman award in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, as well as 3 R&D-100 awards given annually to top 100 important inventions.
As a Congressional Scientific Fellow, Dr. Kingston provided the scientific groundwork that resulted in Radon laws that continue to save hundreds of thousands of lives today. Dr. Kingston received his BS degree in Chemistry Education, an MS degree in Analytical Chemistry from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and his PhD in Analytical Chemistry and Environmental Management from American University.
