Behnam Kia, Ph.D. has a wealth of work experience. From 2011 to 2015, they were a Research Faculty Member at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where they co-directed the Applied Chaos Lab and wrote research grants resulting in over $1.5M in government grants. In 2017, they founded and became CEO of InfinityGates, an NC State University startup company, where they launched and ran a market analysis campaign to assess the commercial viability of the technology. From 2015 to 2021, they were a Research Assistant Professor at North Carolina State University, where they co-founded and co-directed the Nonlinear Artificial Intelligence Lab, hired and trained students, created and taught a brand-new course on Applied AI, and was the founding advisor for NC State's AI club. In 2019, they became Co-Founder of Stacks, where they performed market analysis and designed a roadmap to develop and deploy the solutions, developed and deployed machine learning models to automate the data cleaning processes, and designed and deployed a zero-shot learning system to automatically extract the labels (court outcomes). In 2021, they joined the Advisory Board of the Campbell Law Innovation Institute. Most recently in 2023, they became the Director of Data Science at RevolutionParts.

Behnam Kia, Ph.D. obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Arizona State University between 2009 and 2011. Prior to this, they obtained a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Florida between 2008 and 2009.
