Charlena Smith has had a diverse work experience, starting as an English Second Language teacher at VIPKID, where they also created products to enhance instruction. Charlena also worked as an elementary school teacher and webmaster intern at West Memphis Public Schools. Smith founded Alpha B Tech, Inc. and invented and owned The Intone: Baby Language Device, which offered mobile applications for parenting tools. Charlena was a children's ministry teacher at the Church of God In Christ and a youth and young adult leader, Women's Ministry, and First Lady at Beebe Memorial CME Church. Charlena owned their own computer repair business called Will B Fixed Computer Repair Shop LLC. Finally, Smith was a brand ambassador for Sophia the Robot at Hanson Robotics Limited and a computer science teacher at Rex Academy, where they taught young children how to program.
Charlena Smith has a Master of Science in Information Systems with a focus on Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from Strayer University, which they earned between the years 2017 and 2020. In 2011, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Elementary Education and Teaching from Bethel University, College of Professional Studies. Prior to that, in 2006, they earned an Associate's degree in General Studies from The University of Memphis, and in 2005, they also received an Associate's degree in General Studies from Southwest Tennessee Community College.
