Melvin Thong

Melvin Thong has extensive work experience in the technology and banking sectors. Melvin currently holds the position of Head of Data Strategy at RHB Banking Group, where they are responsible for developing and implementing data strategies. Prior to this, Melvin served as the Head of Data Management at RHB Banking Group.

Before joining RHB Banking Group, Melvin worked at CIMB BANK BERHAD as the Head of Data Technology Delivery. In this role, they provided leadership and direction to the IT service delivery and operation team in areas such as Banking Data Warehouse, Executive Information System, and Data Quality applications.

Melvin also gained significant experience at AmBank Group, where they served as a Senior Systems Analyst. In this role, they led the Data Warehouse unit and supervised the operational aspects to ensure timely delivery of data to business users.

At the start of their career, Melvin worked at DVM Technology Berhad, where they started as a system engineer and gradually progressed to become the Head of Professional Services. In this role, they managed the Professional Services Division, providing technical delivery and support to customers in the System Integration field, primarily in the Telecommunication and Financial Services industries.

Overall, Melvin Thong has a strong background in data strategy, management, and technology delivery, with experience in both the banking and technology sectors.

Melvin Thong completed their high school education from Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur, graduating with a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) in 1992. Melvin then pursued a Bachelor of Information Technology degree in Computer Software Development from the University of Southern Queensland from 1996 to 1999.
