Sailesh K. Jha

Sailesh K. Jha currently serves as the Group Chief Economist and Head of Financial Market Research at RHB Banking Group since November 2020. Jha has previously held significant roles, including Chief Asia Economist at Credit Suisse from 2015 to 2017, Managing Director of Asia ex-Japan Fixed Income Sales at Jefferies & Company in 2010-2011, and Senior Regional Economist for Asia ex-Japan at both Barclays Investment Bank and Credit Suisse from 2003 to 2009. Earlier experience includes serving as a Regional Equity Strategist/Economist at DBS Bank and a Regional Economist at the Asian Development Bank. Jha began an academic career as an Assistant Professor of Macroeconomic Theory at The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1996 to 1998. Academically, Jha holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from the University of Washington, and both a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Aerospace Engineering and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University.
