Vito Lavopa

Vito LaVopa, Ph.D. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Vito is currently the Head of Drug Substance in the Technical Operations department at Rhythm Pharmaceuticals Inc. Vito previously worked at US Tech Solutions as a Contract Position in Process Sciences, focusing on drug product development. Prior to that, they served as the Senior Director of CMC Drug Substance Development and Technical Operations at Melinta Therapeutics, where they provided technical and regulatory support for antibiotic drug substances. Vito has also held various roles at The Medicines Company, including Senior Director of Drug Substance Development and Director of API Development. Additionally, LaVopa worked at PLIVA, Watson Laboratories, Bayer, and Merck in managerial and specialist positions. Overall, their expertise lies in drug substance development, technical operations, regulatory support, and project management.

Vito LaVopa, Ph.D. holds a Sc.D./MSCEP degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which was obtained from 1983 to 1987. Vito then pursued an MBA with a finance concentration at Rutgers Business School from 1992 to 1996. Prior to that, Vito earned a BSChe degree in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University, completing it from 1979 to 1983. In addition to their formal education, they also hold a certification in Project Management Foundations: Requirements from LinkedIn, obtained in 2020.
