Phil Deans

President & Vice Chancellor at Richmond, The American International University in London

Phil Deans has been President & Vice Chancellor at Richmond, The American International University in London since 2011. Prior to that, they were Chief Academic Officer and Associate Dean at Temple University Japan from 2006 to 2011. From 2005 to 2006, they were a JSPS Fellow at Sophia University in Tokyo. From 1998 to 2006, they were Senior Lecturer in Chinese Politics and Associate Dean at SOAS, University of London. From 1995 to 1998, they were Lecturer at the University of Kent.

Phil Deans has a PGCHEM from the University of London, a BA and PhD in Politics and East Asian Studies from Newcastle University, and is a Research Fellow in International Relations at the University of Tokyo. Phil also studied Chinese at the National Taiwan Normal University and Taiyuan Shizhuan.
