Martin Burns has over three decades of work experience in dispute avoidance, management, and resolution. Martin currently serves as the Head of ADR Research and Development at RICS, where they develop tailored dispute avoidance and resolution strategies for governments and businesses in the UK and globally. Martin is responsible for building relationships with government and industry influencers and decision-makers. Prior to their current role, they held the position of Director of Dispute Resolution Services at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors from 2005 to 2012.

Martin Burns attended Coventry University from 1988 to 1991, where they earned a BA (Hons) degree in Politics & History. Following this, from 1999 to 2002, they pursued an LL.B degree in Law at Coventry University. Lastly, they attended BPP Law School from 2003 to 2005, obtaining a degree in Barrister with a focus on ADR (Arbitration, Mediation, et al) and Professional Ethics.
