Matthew Shook

For the past 17 years, Matt has conducted hundreds of criminal investigations that targeted various Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs). His work primarily has focused on dismantling narcotics trafficking organizations and criminal street gangs. These investigations have not only resulted in the criminal convictions of hundreds of individuals but also led to the seizures of weapons and narcotics and the forfeiture of US currency and property – ultimately making the communities safer.

In addition to his criminal investigations, Matt serves as the Team Leader for the HSI New York Special Response Team (SRT). The mission of the SRT is to conduct high-risk enforcement operations and other specialized duties within the scope of its training and capabilities, safely, professionally, and in a manner that maximizes officer and public safety. SRT handles HSI’s high-risk arrest and search warrants, barricaded subjects, rural area operations, VIP protection, sniper coverage for high-risk operations, and security for National Security Events. In this capacity, he plans and leads the execution of 20 to 30 high risk enforcement operations a year.

In March of 2019, Matt received the HSI New York – Special Agent of the Year Award.
