Fernando Santos

Senior Software Engineer in Algorithms and Platform at RideCo

Fernando Santos has extensive work experience in the software engineering field. Fernando is currently working at RideCo On-Demand Transit as a Senior Software Engineer in Algorithms and Platform since April 2023. Fernando previously held the role of Software Engineer - Algorithms and Optimization at the same company from November 2020 to March 2023.

Prior to their current position, Fernando worked at Magnet Forensics as a Software Developer from May 2018 to November 2020.

Fernando also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Waterloo from June 2017 to April 2018, with a focus on research in the Combinatorics and Optimization Department.

Before that, Fernando worked as a Professor at the Federal University of Itajuba from February 2010 to June 2017, where they lectured courses on Parallel Programming, Object Oriented Programming, Data Structures I, and Introduction to Algorithms. Fernando was also actively involved in research in the Computer Science and Optimization fields.

Additionally, they held a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Waterloo from February 2015 to February 2016, focusing on the development of high performance software for solving vehicle routing problems and variants.

Fernando began their career at Synergia Software as a Test Analyst, where they successfully implemented unit tests and executed case tests to ensure high-quality software releases. This was a part-time job they held in 2007-2008.

Fernando Santos completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Universidade Federal de Viçosa from 2003 to 2007. Fernando then pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais from 2007 to 2009. Continuing their academic journey, Fernando Santos obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, which they completed from 2009 to 2012.
