Sergio García-Vergara, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience. Sergio is currently serving as the CTO & Co-founder of RIF Robotics since October 2020. Sergio worked as a Robotics Consultant at Greenzie from February 2021 to October 2022. Sergio also joined the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) as part of the 2022 Atlanta Commerce Stream cohort, leveraging the CDL resources to accelerate progress at RIF Robotics. At Georgia Institute of Technology, they worked as a Research Engineer II from January 2017 to October 2020 and as an Electrical Engineering Doctoral Student from August 2011 to January 2017, where they developed a virtual reality game for the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy. Sergio also served as an Instructor for the Graduate Teaching Assistant Preparation course and as a Graduate Research Assistant. Prior to that, Sergio had experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Puerto Rico and was a Summer Research Assistant at UC Berkeley and Purdue University.

Sergio García-Vergara, Ph.D. holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they obtained between 2011 and 2017. Sergio also has a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution, earned from 2011 to 2014. Prior to pursuing advanced degrees, Sergio completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez from 2006 to 2011. In addition to their academic accomplishments, Sergio holds the intermediate certificate for the "Tech to Teaching: Higher Education Pathway" from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they obtained in March 2015.
