EmJ (Emily) Sorensen has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. In 2006, they began their career as a Social Market Event Coordinator at the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association. From 2007 to 2011, they co-owned SoJourn Design Works and served as a Designer. In the same year, they also co-owned Play Music Educational Studios and held the position of Executive Director of Administration. In 2013, they became a Business Owner at Sol Creative, LLC. Later, in 2014, they worked as a Senior Manager at Musician's Toolkit. EmJ (Emily) then transitioned to MRM // McCann Salt Lake City in 2018, where they worked as a Sr Project Manager until 2019. In 2022, Sorensen joined Hoodoo Digital as a Project Manager before moving to their current role as Lead Senior Project Manager at Rightpoint.

EmJ (Emily) Sorensen holds a Master's Degree in Strategic Communication from Westminster University, which was obtained from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology at Utah State University from 1999 to 2004. In addition to their formal education, Emily has obtained certifications in various areas. In August 2022, they achieved certifications in "Diversity, Inclusion, Sensitivity & Racism V3.3," "Microaggressions in the Workplace V2," and "Unconscious Bias V3.1" from Traliant.
