Jarno Paananen

Principal Engineer at Rightware

Jarno Paananen has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of software and GPU design. They started their career at Nokia in 1995 as a Junior Engineer, where they worked on multimedia network terminals and focused on graphics and low-level driver programming. In 1999, Jarno joined Ionific Oy and worked as a Senior Design Engineer, taking on various responsibilities in software development and eventually collaborating with Bitboys on graphics drivers and GPU design. In 2006, Jarno briefly worked at AMD as a Principal Member of Technical Staff, Design Engineer and then transitioned to the role of Architect R&D after ATI acquired Bitboys. In 2009, Jarno joined Qualcomm as a Senior Staff Engineer, contributing to the design and implementation of GPUs, particularly the Adreno 2xx series. They remained at Qualcomm until 2012 when they joined Vire Labs Ltd as a Lead Research Engineer and Partner. Finally, in 2022, Jarno started working at Rightware as a Principal Engineer.

Jarno Paananen started their education in 1992 at Tampereen Lyseon lukio, where they completed their pre-university studies. Jarno then pursued a degree in Computer Science at Tampere University of Technology from 1995 to 2012. Although Jarno did not complete their Master's degree, they obtained a qualification known as "Halfway to MSc :)" during their time at the university.
