Raul Magallanes

Vice President, Associate General Counsel at RigNet

Raul Magallanes is the Vice President and Associate General Counsel at RigNet. Raul has over fifteen years of experience in the telecommunications industry, specializing in satellite communications.

Magallanes began their career as a Satellite Engineer at IWL in 1999. Raul then moved to Harris CapRock Communications in 2000, where they served as the Director of Bids and Proposals for two years. In 2005, they became the Corporate Counsel for CapRock Communications, where they were responsible for company regulatory compliance with the FCC. Raul also procured and maintained all satellite licenses for the company, and prepared a detailed application for Earth Stations on Vessels (ESV) which lead to the first FCC ESV grant in history.

In 2007, Magallanes joined RigNet as the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. In this role, they are responsible for all legal and regulatory compliance matters for the company. Raul has also developed an export control policy and export control management system for RigNet. Magallanes directly supports all Spanish legal transactions for the RigNet Mexican subsidiary, and supports the company in the daily review of contracts. Raul has procured international VSAT licenses in various countries.

Raul Magallanes has a Master of Laws from Queen Mary University of London, a JD from Texas Southern University—Thurgood Marshall School of Law, an MBA from University of Houston-Clear Lake, and BS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University.

Raul Magallanes reports to Steven E. Pickett, President & CEO. They are on a team with Errol Olivier - Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Keith Frederick - Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and Lelio Souza - Vice President, Intelie.
