Melissa Daugherty

Paintings Conservator at Rijksmuseum

Melissa Daugherty is a highly skilled paintings conservator with extensive experience in the conservation and restoration of artworks. Currently serving as a paintings conservator at the Rijksmuseum since January 2023, Melissa also owns Restauratie Atelier Daugherty, an independent conservation practice founded in October 2014. Prior roles include coordinating the Masterclass 'The Dutch method unfolded' at the University of Amsterdam from August 2019 to September 2022 and working as a paintings conservator/researcher at the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed from April 2017 to May 2019, participating in projects focused on cultural heritage research. Earlier experiences include traineeships at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and SRAL - The conservation institute. Melissa's academic background includes a Professional Doctorate in Conservation-Restoration and a Master of Arts from the University of Amsterdam, along with a Bachelor's degree in Art History from Leiden University and an initial study in Industrial Design at Delft University of Technology.
