Kevin Bates is the Group Head of Risk and Insurance for Lendlease and a prominent Risk Management Executive. With a senior executive career spanning two decades in corporate finance, investment, development and insurance, Kevin brings a deep understanding of the commercial landscape and the contextual risk leadership capabilities and behaviours that enhance business performance. This experience includes working with CEOs and Boards.

Kevin has developed specialist knowledge and expertise in the United States, Australia, Europe and throughout Asia by leading teams, setting risk profiles and creating risk retention, transfer and financing strategies, including managing local and global teams spanning diverse business units; managing internal and external stakeholders, negotiating major transactions and leading in corporate governance.

Kevin joined Lendlease in 2004 and was appointed to his current role of Group Head of Risk and Insurance in March 2014. Prior to his current appointment, Kevin spent 6 years as the Head of Risk and Compliance for the Retail and Communities Business with Lendlease in Australia, followed by the Head of Risk and Compliance for the Asia Region of Lendlease – a role which Kevin held from 2010 to March 2014.

Kevin joined Lendlease after a number of years practising as a Corporate Finance Lawyer with a top tier international law firm in London acting on a variety of high-profile international market leading transactions.

Kevin is a Director (and former President) of the Australasian Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and a Global Director of RIMS Inc. Kevin also sits on the Board of a number of Captives. In addition, Kevin was elected to become a member of the M200 Group, which he has sat on since 2016.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), a Diploma of Legal Practice and a Masters in Law and Arbitration.
