Julian Barker

Julian has been a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Cardiothoracic Critical Care at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust since early 2003. For the last 3 years he has been the Group Clinical Director of Critical Care, having previously held the position of Clinical Director of CT Anaesthesia and Cardiothoracic Critical Care for a decade, during which time Julian has also been the Director of the ECMO service. Julian was responsible for developing and leading the Respiratory ECMO Service, initially in response to the swine-flu epidemic and latterly in the response to Covid19. He is a fan of Manchester, having trained there and lived there since he was 18. Julian is also the founder and Director of We Are RiSE Limited.
