Ms. Lomeli was elected to the Rio Hondo Community College District Board of Trustees in November 2018. She represents Area 3, which includes Whittier and South El Monte.
Rosaelva Lomeli is a Science Teacher at Suva Intermediate School with more than twenty-two (22) years of teaching experience and a passion for student success. Rosaelva has prepared hundreds of students for their college journey, many who are current students at Rio Hondo College.
In her profession, Rosaelva serves in several leadership roles including as Lead Science Teacher where she works collaboratively with her science colleagues to ensure that students demonstrate high levels of achievement in Science.
Rosaelva also serves beyond her teaching duties as the ASB (Associated Student Body) Advisor where she develops and shapes the leadership potential and capacity of student leaders.
As a teachers union leader she serves as Faculty Chair and School Site Council President at Suva Intermediate School representing her colleagues.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mount St. Mary’s College, a Master’s Degree in Education and Secondary Credential in Biological Science from Whittier College.
