Adrian Ball, PhD, is a seasoned data scientist and machine learning engineer with extensive experience in both industry and academia. Currently serving as a Data Science Manager and Principal Data Scientist at Rio Tinto since July 2021, Adrian also holds the position of Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Sydney and operates as a self-employed consultant specializing in machine learning solutions since March 2019. Prior experience includes two roles as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Rio Tinto Centre for Mining and Automation, focusing on the development of probabilistic models of geological boundaries and scalable data modeling processes. Adrian holds a PhD and MPhil in Robotics with a focus on Human Robot Interaction from the University of Sydney, complemented by a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronic Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Advanced Mathematics.
