Virginia Gum Hamisevicz

Virginia Gum Hamisevicz serves as the Director of External Affairs at Rio Tinto since March 2024. Previously, Virginia held the position of Vice President for Government Relations & International Programs at The Aluminum Association from November 2021 to March 2024, and was Vice President of Government Affairs at the National Mining Association from July 2011 to October 2021. Virginia's career also includes a role as Manager of Government Relations at the Independent Petroleum Association of America in early 2011, and significant experience in the U.S. House of Representatives, serving as Senior Legislative Assistant to Rep. Shelley Moore Capito and Staff Assistant to Rep. Bill Shuster from August 2005 to March 2011. Virginia holds a Master’s degree in Environmental & Resource Policy from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from West Virginia Wesleyan College, with additional educational credentials from The Wharton School.
