Randal Cox has worked in the field of data science and analytics since 1997. Randal began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Chicago, where they designed and maintained a web site describing a genomics sequencing project. Randal then worked at Integrated Genomics as a Bioinformatacist, where they designed and implemented a data tracking web site to track all data created in the process of sequencing genomes. In 2005, they became the CTO of Pattern Recognition, Inc., where they maintained and expanded a statistical fraud model deployed at Discover Financial Services. In 2013, they joined Rippleshot as Chief Scientist, where they produce a suite of statistical and web UI tools used to detect credit card data breaches.
Randal Cox obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison between 1984 and 1988. Randal then went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Genetics from the University of Illinois Chicago between 1989 and 1996.
