Alan Spiro is currently an advisory board member at Risalto Health. Prior to this, they served as the SVP of strategy and growth, as well as the chief medical officer, at Blue Health Intelligence from July 2017 to January 2020. In this role, they led the Clinical Practice and consulted for over 75 of the Fortune 100 companies. Alan also developed the initial ehealth strategy for Towers Perrin. Alan has been a health data expert both nationally and internationally, working with major healthcare organizations and insurers to improve operational performance and to develop new programs and products.
From June 2016 to July 2017, Alan served as the chief medical officer at Medica. In this role, they advised cutting edge companies in health care. Prior to this, they were the executive vice president and chief medical officer at Accolade, Inc. from June 2007 to June 2016. In this role, they were responsible for Accolade's clinical operations and product development. Alan also oversaw Accolade's expansion into new markets and product lines.
Before joining Accolade, Alan served as the chief medical officer of national accounts at WellPoint from January 2005 to June 2007. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing clinical strategies for WellPoint's national accounts business unit. Alan also oversaw the unit's quality improvement initiatives.
Alan Spiro has an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, as well as a Fellowship from Beth Israel Medical Center in Gastroenterology and Nutrition. Alan also has an MD from Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate degree at New York University, where they studied Biology and English.
